Travel to this wilderness hideaway is part of the adventure.

Our Resort is located on Oak Island, a sheltered Island in the center of Lake of the Woods.

There are several different ways to reach us.

  • Drive north from Warroad or Roseau approximately 60 miles into Canada and back into Minnesota to the Northwest Angle. The nine-mile boat trip to Oak Island can be accomplished via a passenger service or your own boat.
  • Lake of the Woods Passenger Service from Sportsman's on the Rainy River, by boat (spring/summer/fall) or track vehicle (winter) transportation across Lake of the Woods. Cost varies by season and the trip takes approx. 1 1/2 hours one way.  It is an adventure in itself! There are no border crossings on this option.

Drive In

You drive approximately 60 miles North of Warroad, Minnesota to Young's Bay on the Northwest Angle where our Island Passenger Service is available for the 9 mile trip to Oak Island. Travel time from Warroad or Roseau MN to Oak Island is approximately 3 hours. From Warroad, MN, drive north on Hwy 313 to Sprague, Manitoba, Canada. Turn right on 308. Watch for Northwest Angle sign (junction 525). Turn right on 525 to Four Corners intersection. Turn right again and watch for Young's Bay sign.

Your Own Boat

Customers who wish to bring their own boat may launch at Young's Bay on the Northwest Angle. Launch and parking fee will be charged. A navigational chart from Young's Bay to Oak Island will be supplied upon request.

  1. From the Northwest Angle
    Summer boat passenger service – $40/pp/rt
    Winter passenger service – $45/pp/rt ($135 minimum)
  2. Boat or winter track vehicle across Lake of the Woods from Baudette, MN
    NO INTERNATIONAL BORDER STOPS NECESSARY! HASSLE-FREE!
    Summer - $95/pp/rt (minimum $440) Winter - $80/pp/rt (minimum $395) 
  3. Fly via floatplane from Fort Frances, Ontario. Inquire about current rates.

USA Identification Requirements

USA Identification Requirements

Beginning Jan. 31, US and Canadian citizens ages 19 and older will have to show a government ID and proof of citizenship to cross the US-Canadian border. 

One documentation may be presented if it is a US or Canadian Passport, US passport card (available this spring), NEXUS, SENTRI OR FAST card, Secure Drivers Lecense (being tested in a handful of states), US Military ID with travel orders, US Merchant Mariner Document, or one of several ID's issued to Native Americans. 

If you do not have one of the above forms of a ID, citizens must present an ID, such as a driver's license and proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or goverment certificating indicating natrualization, citizenship or birth abroad.
